based on 3 themes
CULTURE, GASTRONOMY and WINES
You will be given 20
HOURS of classes by Jean HARISTOY, an independent teacher
who has been working for more than 20 YEARS with the French Ministry
of Labour, with regional, national and international firms and
with private individuals: adults, university students
and schoolchildren.
A SIX-MEMBER mini group will ensure that the lessons are
personalized, and are built around NATURALNESS and COMMUNICATION.
After the 20 hours, a good basic level will be achieved by the
end of the course.
Your stay in Biarritz will be magic. Think of
it, actually living in a palace -huge guest rooms, vast public
chambers, authentic splendour- your imagination will run riot.
All blended with the ultra modern in comfort and communications.
Add to these a sea-water
swimming-pool, a private beach, a fitness centre and a restaurant
of international repute, then you will know what the past-and-present
good life is all about.
Please do not resist when we attempt
to prise you away to see and sample this, this beautiful corner
of Europe.
As culture is the key to
this stay, you will get to know the Basque Country,
its history, geography and traditions:
Bayonne, the leading French town for bullfighting
and chocolate, Biarritz with its Napoleonic charm,
Saint Jean de Luz with its fishing port and the
church where the Sun King (Louis XIV) married the king of Spain's daughter.
Excursions into the Pyrenées will unveil the wild charm of the
region: the Pottocks (Wild horses) the vultures; the picturesque
"palombières" or pigeon-shooting lodges; the prehistoric
sites.
After Culture, Gastronomy!
During all the meals, and most of the time as well, we will speak
the maximum French possible.
In addition, the Basque Country, bestride the
Franco-Spanish border, makes it easy to take in Spanish culture,
history, geography and... cooking.
Together, we shall cook and sample, not only the famous paella
but also the zarzuela (seafood and fish). Of course, in the home
of tapas, you will not miss out on a wide variety of tasty morsels.
Which leads us on to wine.
Our passion will acquaint you with some of the great wines.
Thus,
you will not be confined to a sole region in this voyage of discovery.
We shall teach you to taste and
appreciate the wines of Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Dordogne
and... Spain.
CULTURE, GASTRONOMY
and WINES will be the pivot of this unwinding and rewarding
get-together. We shall do everything to ensure your COMFORT and
WELL-BEING.
That said, the ends of the days and the final afternoon will be
available for you to choose your own activities and to allow you
to relax as you wish.
This stay is intended
for SIX PEOPLE maximum.
However if a couple wishes to be alone, or if a group numbers
only four people, or if seven wish to attend, we will be happy
to quote you appropriately.
